Airplane
The Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo's International Airport is only 15 minutes away of Puerta del Mar. It`s possible to find direct flights from some cities in Canada and U.S.A, specially on touristic seasons, between December and April. Air Canada, Continental Airlines,Interjet, Aeroméxico, Alaska Airlines, Delta Airlines, Magnicharters y US Airways are the main airlines that flight.
Bus
There is a Head buses station only 2 kilometers of the downtown, offers service to the principal villages of the place and it is good to take an excursion for the day to Acapulco or walk inside the country. Estrella de Oro and Estrella Blanca, are the lines of more confidence and safety that realize tours of regular routes for the state.
Road (car)
Option 1: Driving from the north, drive towards Mexico City. Once in Mexico City take the primary road “Anillo Periférico” going south all across the city. Then take the exit to the toll highway “Autopista del Sol” which goes to Cuernavaca and then Acapulco. Once you reached Acapulco take the toll free highway “Carretera Nacional 200” north until you reach Zihuatanejo.
Option 2: Another option is to take the new “Autopista Siglo XXI” which connects Morelia, Michoacán with the highway “Carretera Nacional 200” at the coast near Feliciano, Guerrero. This route, which once was 8.5 hours long, now takes only 4.5 hours by car.
